Eight Music Podcasts To Check Out on Fountain
It's now possible to discover and support artists that get featured in podcasts. Here are the shows defining this exciting new category of music podcasts.
Thanks to the latest developments in Podcasting 2.0, DJs can spin tracks and listeners can stream or boost to support the artists directly from their podcast app. If you enjoyed a song featured in a podcast, you can add it to your library to listen to again later.
Here are a selection of shows which are defining this emerging category of music podcasts that you can listen to now on Fountain 0.8.
Boostagram Ball
Adam Curry
The first music podcast to support Value for Value was launched by Adam Curry on July 28 and, given that Adam has built illustrious career in radio and music television over the years, it comes as no surprise that it’s a class act. What’s cool about Boostagram Ball is you can listen live on Fountain every Friday and Adam reads out messages from listeners as they come in. It’s like drive-time radio powered by lightning.
It's A Mood
Mike Neumann
Every Sunday from his home town of Austin, Texas, Mike Neumann shares an eclectic mix of indie, pop, new wave and rock. It’s A Mood was launched on August 6th but it’s not his first foray into Value for Value. Mike also hosts The Mike Neumann Show, which launched in April 2022.
The Fairly Fun Show
Silas Vogt
Silas is an entertaining host from Germany bringing whimsical and self-deprecating comedy to his latest project, The Fairly Fun Show. Just like everyone else, he’s still getting to grips with the new software tools that allow podcasters to produce a show like this - and the result is an endearing, behind the curtain view of what it entails.
Behind The SchƎmƎs
Satoshi
Behind The SchƎmƎs is a weekly podcast which has notched up nearly 170 episodes since it launched in June 2020. They recently introduced a new weekly preshow called Before The Sch3m3s where hosts Lavish and Boo Bury share tracks from their eclectic repertoire.
DJ V4V Podcast
DJ V4V
This new project from Satsquatch Yetimoto is an effort to learn the Podcasting 2.0 ecosystem, “running blindfolded with scissors on a wet floor while juggling flaming chainsaws”. Expect house and drum and bass, with some beautiful ambient productions thrown in.
While most of these early Music Podcasts are highly eclectic, the Black Cat Music Podcast is geared towards pure, unadulterated punk rock. If you’re a fan of the punk rock genre and you’re interested in discovering some interesting bands off the beaten track, join Ryley as he blazes through some of his latest finds.
Phantom Power Music Hour
Phantom Power Music
Taylor Williams is an ex-touring musician residing in Nashville. The creator of the Phantom Power Music Blog has recently launched a new podcast to play some of his favourite tracks and support independent artists. You can also hear Taylor share thoughts on Value for Value and music in his other podcast, Phantom Power Business Hour.
Lightning Thrashes
Kolomona Myer AKA Sir Libre
A new show with a radio-style format, blasting out metal, grunge and punk rock. Expect fast double-kicking bass drums, distortion-soaked guitar solos and ruthless vocals.
